Most of us long for the perfect fairytale wedding ceremony that everybody will remember. Practically, however, this is not always feasible because of accelerating costs. More and more people are thus looking towards a wedding ceremony without ostentations, desirably one that is lighter on the pocket. Sounds amazing, but this is actually possible if you plan out the wedding ceremony meticulously, and creatively, so that you can avoid unnecessary expenses. This can bring down your wedding cost to as low as ₤2000, yet making it as beautiful as the one you always wished for.

? Guest List- you might want to invite everybody you?ve known all your life to your wedding, but expense-wise, this might not be a wise idea. Instead, opt for a close family affair, so that that list of invitees is limited only to your family and close friends. A close-knit affair is also much more special than a grand, expensive wedding. In doing this, you?ll also have to keep in mind to send out notes of apology to those you?ve not invited, promising them a treat later! Having a shorter guest list also helps in deciding on a smaller, and, needless to say, a less expensive location for your wedding.
? Ceremony- the costs involved in the actual wedding ceremony depends on the kind of wedding ceremony you?re having. It?s best to go for a civil ceremony, which is very economical. It?s also advised that you hold the ceremony at the registrar?s office rather than at the location you?ve booked for the dinner afterwards, for which the charges of the registrar are bound to be higher. Most offices are spacious, and aesthetically decorated, making it apt for a quiet wedding gathering comprising of close family members.
? Reception Venue- if you?ve already slashed out names from your guest list, hunting down a cozy local hotel with an open lawn will not be too difficult. Additionally, the advantage of choosing a cheaper venue is that you can afford to splurge on the d?cor and the food. To bring down costs further, arrange for only one complimentary drink for all your guests, making the rest payable ones.
? Food- the lavish spread for guests at a wedding usually constitutes the biggest of all wedding expenses. However, you?ll have to find ways of cutting costs in this area as well. The best way to do this is to set out a buffet lunch/dinner, ensuring minimal wastage. At an intimate wedding dinner, you could also plan a home-cooked meal, which will be both sumptuous and special. You can also try other innovative ideas for wedding parties, such as a pizza dinner, or a barbeque: both of these are cheap, yet delicious. To the liberally topped pizzas, add two salads and wine and you?ll have a perfect pizza dinner. To bring your family closer during your wedding, try a potluck dinner, so that all the family delicacies can be served together.
The thumb rule of planning a cheap wedding is to keep in mind that you want to begin a new phase of life, and not show off to the world. This rule will automatically set other things right for you, as you?ll want a quiet family dinner rather than a grand reception. Money will then no longer be a problem.
