The first you thing you should do is research the piercing salon. It should be sanitary and safe and the piercer should be willing to show your any and all health code records. If they are unwilling, get out of there fast! If you want a tongue ring, don’t let price affect your decision. NEVER choose a questionable salon just because the price of a tongue ring is cheaper; it’s so not worth it.

On the day of your appointment, eat a good meal before going to get your tongue ring. Consider filling food like pasta and grains. After getting a tongue ring, some people say they cannot eat much solid food right away.

When you arrive at the salon, the employees will have you fill out some paperwork. They will ask you to provide some information, as well as provide idea to ensure that you are old enough to get a tongue ring. Most piercers will have you pay at this time. After that, it is time to pick out your new body jewelry. There will likely be lots of body jewelry to choose from, but they will probably limit the tongue rings you can use for the piercing.

After you select your new tongue ring, the piercer should take you to a clean and sterile environment, usually will a chair or a table to lay on. During this time, the piercer should absolutely be wearing gloves. Also make sure that the needle and other tools come in a sterile package. The piercer will mark your tongue after selecting a spot that will not interfere will blood vessels and nerves. This is another reason to go to a trained professional; he or she will have been educated in the anatomy of the tongue and know how to perform the piercing safely.

After marking a spot and checking that you’re satisfied, the piercer will place a clamp on your tongue. The clamp sort of looks like a long pair of scissors with two circles on the end where the needle will pass through. Unlike piercing guns (used primarily on ear lobes), the tongue ring itself is not actually used to pierce the tongue. The piercer will use a hollow surgical grade needle to actually pierce the tongue. This is a tool that should come in a new, sterile package. Your piercer will hold out the clamp and push the needle through your tongue. This is the part many people expect to hurt. Although you shouldn’t expect it to be painless, many report that the clamp itself is more uncomfortable than the needle and actual piercing.

At this point, the piercer will be ready to insert the tongue ring. After removing the bottom ball, the piercer will place the end inside the hollow needle. This makes it easy to actually insert the body jewelry. The tongue ring will stay inside the tongue after the piercer removes the needle the rest of the way. After that, the piercer will screw on the bottom ball and wipe away any blood or spit. Next you should receive instructions on how to clean and care for your new tongue ring.

The process of actually piercing your tongue should take no more than five minutes. Most tongue rings are 3/8″ but they may use a longer tongue ring to allow for swelling during healing. Between two and four weeks later, your tongue should be fully healed. At this time you can change your tongue ring to one that expresses your personal style.

The sweet, earthy taste of pumpkin takes this dish to a whole other level of savory goodness.

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 1/2 cup onion, chopped, 1 cup of red or green pepper, chopped, 1 clove garlic, finely chopped, 1 pound of ground turkey, 2 (14 oz.) cans diced tomatoes, undrained, 1-3/4 cups pumpkin puree, 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce, 1 (15-1/4 oz.) can kidney beans, drained, 1 (4 oz.) can green chilies, diced, 1/2 cup whole kernel corn, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.

In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium high heat. Add in the onion, bell pepper and garlic. Cook, stirring constantly, for 5 to 7 minutes or until tender.

Add in the turkey meat and cook until browned; drain.

Add in the tomatoes with juice, pumpkin puree, tomato sauce, beans, chilies, corn, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.

=> Memphis Barbecue Shrimp Chili

Here?s a very unique chili recipe that comes straight out of the Memphis barbecue tradition. The consistency will be very soup like and is meant to be served over rice or French bread.

1-1/2 pounds medium shrimp, 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 5 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped, 1-1/2 cups of barbecue sauce, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon hot sauce, 1 teaspoon liquid smoke, 1-1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes, 1-1/2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley, 1 lemon, sliced very thin, white rice and or French bread.

Peel and thoroughly clean the shrimp.

In a large, heavy skillet, melt the butter and oil. Cook the garlic until it?s nice and soft.

Add in the shrimp and cook until pink.

Add in the barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce, liquid smoke, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper and chili powder.

Simmer all for 10 minutes. Add in the parsley and lemon slices. Continue to simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.

Serve chili over white rice and/or French bread.

=> Italiano Chili Con Carne

Italian meets Southwestern in this easy-to-make chili dish.

1 green pepper, 6 to 8 large onions, 1 pound ground beef, 1 medium can of tomatoes, 1 can of kidney beans, 1 can of spaghetti sauce.

In a skillet, cook the ground beef until brown; drain.

Dice up the green peppers and onions and add to a saucepan. Add in the cooked beef and the tomatoes. Let simmer until all ingredients are well done. Add in the beans and spaghetti sauce; heat thoroughly.

Season to taste with salt, pepper and sugar.

=> Picante Cincinnati Chili

This Cincinnati version is known as the sweet chili and is served over spaghetti noodles. The picante sauce adds a nice twist to this popular dish.

2 pounds of ground beef or pork, 2 large onions, chopped, 2 cloves of garlic, minced, 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce, 1 can picante sauce, 2 tablespoons chili powder, 1 to1-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice, 2 bay leaves, 1 pound thin spaghetti, cooked.

Topping: Shredded cheddar cheese, 1 chopped onion, kidney beans, heated, Oyster crackers.

In a large Dutch oven or pot, brown the beef or pork along with the onion and garlic. Add in the remaining ingredients, except for the spaghetti and the toppings. Cover and let simmer for 1 hour; stirring occasionally.

Remove the bay leaves. Serve the chili nice and hot over the cooked spaghetti. Use toppings as desired.

=> Green Chili Casserole

Here?s another great recipe for Velveeta cheese lovers.

1 pound of hamburger, 1 medium size onion, chopped, an 8 oz. package of Velveeta cheese, 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 1 can of cream of chicken soup, 1 can of mild enchilada sauce, 1 package of corn tortillas, 1 medium sized can of green chilies.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a skillet, cook the meat and onion until done, but not brown. Heat the cheese and both soups until the cheese is completely melted. Add in the enchilada sauce and green chilies.

Quarter the tortillas and mix everything together. Bake for 30 minutes.

=> Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas

Mild chilies go wonderfully well with chicken in this traditional Mexican dish.

2 cans of cream of chicken soup (no water or milk), 1 large container of sour cream, 1 large green chili, diced (or a can of green chilies), 1 (15 oz.) jar or canned chicken, bones, flour tortillas.

Filling: 2-1/2 cups of grated cheese, 1 cup of green onions, chopped.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a bowl, mix the soup, sour cream, chilies, salt and chicken together. Pour a little of this mixture into the bottom of a 9×12-inch baking dish.

Fill the tortillas with cheese and onions, then roll each filled tortilla and place into the pan on top of the mixture. After all of the tortillas are in the pan, pour the rest of the mixture over the enchiladas.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

=> Green Chili Lasagna

An Italian favorite goes south of the border in this dish. This is kind of a large recipe that can make two dishes of lasagna. If only one is desired, cut the recipe in half.

1 (12 oz.) package of wide noodles, 1 teaspoon butter, 3 pounds of lean ground beef, 1 (29 oz.) can tomato sauce, 1 (28 oz.) can tomato and green chilies, diced, 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 teaspoons sugar, 2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon garlic salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 2 cups of large curd cottage cheese, softened, 1 cup of sour cream, 1 (4 oz.) can green chilies, peeled and chopped, 3/4 cup thinly sliced green onions, including tops, 1 (8 oz.) package mozzarella cheese, grated and Parmesan cheese.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease two 9×13-inch baking dishes.

Cook the noodles and drain. Add in the butter.

In a skillet pan, brown the ground beef in a small amount of oil; drain.

In a large saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chilies, sugar, salt and pepper.

Add in the meat and simmer until the meat is tender ? about 30 minutes.

In a separate bowl, combine the cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, onion, green chilies; mix thoroughly.

Fill the baking dish in this order: 1/2 noodles, cover with 1/2 meat sauce, half of the cheese mixture. Repeat. Finish with a heavy coating of Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Cover lasagna with foil and refrigerate. Bake for 45 minutes.

Black beans are a staple of Mexican and Southwestern style cooking. The following recipes all feature this bean in a savory mixture of spices, vegetables and meat.

=> Traditional Black Bean Chili

This is a meatless chili, but it does contain chicken broth.

In a food processor, add 3 cups of beans and the chicken broth and blend until smooth. Set aside.

4 (15 oz.) cans of black beans, rinsed and drained, 1 (14-1/2 oz.) can of chicken broth, 1/2 cup onion, chopped, 1/2 cup of celery, thinly sliced, 1/3 cup of green pepper, chopped, 2 cloves of garlic, minced, 2 teaspoons of olive oil, 1 (14-1/2oz.) can of whole tomatoes, undrained, chopped, 2 teaspoons chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, 1/4 teaspoon salt.

In a 3-quart saucepan, combine the onion, celery, pepper, garlic and oil. Cook all over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the vegetables are nice and tender. Stir often.

Add in the processed beans, the remaining beans, the tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, oregano and the salt. Mix together well. Bring to a boil over high heat and stir occasionally.

Reduce heat to low and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until the flavors are blended well. Stir occasionally.

=> Beef and Black Bean Chili

This recipe features boneless chuck roast and black beans in a spicy chili sauce.

3/4 cup of dried black beans or 1 (15 oz.) can of black beans, rinsed and drained, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 large green bell peppers, chopped, 1 large onion, chopped, 2 to 4 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped, 3 cloves of garlic, minced, 2 pounds of boneless beef chuck roast, trimmed of fat, cut into 1/2-inch cubes, 1/4 cup of chili powder, 1 tablespoon cumin, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1 (28 oz.) can of crushed tomatoes in puree.

Optional: 1 (4 oz.) can of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded, 3/4 cup of sour cream, sourdough bread.

Place the dried beans in a large pot or bowl and cover completely with cold water. Soak for 12 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse the beans. In a large saucepan, combine the beans and 1-quart of water. Heat until boiling. Reduce the heat to simmer. Cover and cook for 1 to 1-1/4 hours or until the beans are tender.

In a Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium heat until hot. Add in the bell pepper, onion, jalapeno peppers and the garlic. Cook for 10 minutes or until tender; stirring frequently.

Increase the heat to high. Add in the beef and cook, stirring often, for 6 minutes or until meat is no longer pink. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper.

Cook and stir for 1 minute. Stir in the tomatoes. Cover and simmer for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Drain the beans. Add beans to the chili mixture and simmer for 10 minutes.

Serve chili with cheese, sour cream and sourdough bread.

=> Black Bean Chili Salad

This makes a delicious chili served with lettuce and tortilla chips.

1 (12 oz.) package of black beans, 2 cups of chopped onion, divided, 12 cloves of chopped garlic, divided, 2 (20 oz.) cans of whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped, 1 pound of ground beef, 1 green pepper, chopped, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, 2 tablespoons chili powder, 1-1/2 tablespoon ground cumin, 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper, Tortilla chips, 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese, 1 cup of thinly sliced lettuce, 1 mashed avocado, 1/2 cup sour cream.

In a large cast iron pot, add in the package of beans and cover completely with water. Bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and let the beans soak for 4 hours.

Turn the heat back on and add in 1-1/2 cups of onion, 8 cloves of garlic; simmer until the beans are nice and tender. Drain the liquid from the beans.

Add the tomatoes to the beans and cook over low heat.

Meanwhile, cook the ground beef in a skillet with onion, green pepper, 4 cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin and red pepper, until beef is browned.

Drain off the fat and add the meat mixture to the beans and tomatoes. Heat thoroughly. Serve with lettuce, tortilla chips, avocado and sour cream.

Everything seemed to be coming together as I stood in the park with the best man and our guests for the bride to show up. We were just starting to get worried when I realized that I had my brides car keys in my pocket. My wife, in her beautiful dress had to pile into a small Toyota with her daughter, her bridesmaid, her mother, her bridesmaid’s son, our granddaughter and her son and race across town with the car’s brakes failing.

What had been predicted as a beautiful day turned overcast and quite windy and it sprinkled threatening rain during the outdoor service. The food and all the preparations had to be gathered by the guests and bundled into cars. We had to move the entire reception to her mother’s home, which would only accommodate about half of the guests.

During the service, the pastor, no doubt flustered by the weather, used her mother’s name during our vows so in affect, he asked me if I would marry the wrong person. Everyone looked at each other in anticipation, waiting to see if he made the same mistake when it really counted. Fortunately, he did not. The standing joke in the family now is that her mother actually said yes when he asked if she would promise to love and obey the groom.

The suppliers shipped garden wedding favors by mistake when we had ordered spring wedding favors. We decided to hold the favors back and not present them to the guests. I sincerely hope no one felt left out because of this. Our entertainment was canceled and settled on half of the fee since there was no room for them to set up and play at her mother’s house.

Finally, on our way to the honeymoon resort, the cars engine blew up. This happened on a remote stretch of highway at four o’clock in the morning with my new wife still in her wedding dress. We made it to an all night diner where we had to hitch a ride back to a town with a motel. We wound up blowing over half of our honeymoon budget on hotel and car repairs. It cost two thousand dollars to put the car back on the road and took two days off of the trip. That does not count hotel and food costs.

Fiasco is a word that might spring into some people’s mind when we relate that story however, of all the memories I have, the one most dear is the dance we shared in that lonely all night cafe in front of the old jukebox. The room we wound up staying in while the car repairs were affected was a Jacuzzi room and we enjoyed it so much that we extended the honeymoon by two days and stayed there on the way home. All in all, we had a wonderful time.

My wife would kill me if I did not include this part of out trip. We honeymooned at a remote fishing resort way out in the woods outside of Branson, MO. Since we had blown the money we were going to use to go and see the shows in Branson, we spent our time fishing. In the week that we spent there, my wife was the only person to catch a fish. I haven’t lived that down to this day.

It is obvious to assume that in every culture, the couples being wed were of opposite sexes. At first this bothered me a bit because these days? people should not be as closed minded to only research wedding traditions through opposite sex couples. However, through my frustration I still managed to take note of one fine detail. All of these cultures displayed some type of garden wedding favors. That?s right, not only were they being joined in their native culture, but they did so and without even realizing it, joined all the cultures together by using something as simple as spring wedding favors. Ironic isn?t it?

The cultural clash always seems to make out like different cutlers will always be at war, and yet they share one common ceremonial tradition. It just goes to show that generally people seem to be more worried about what everyone else will think, instead of trying to find common ground with them and unite. If something as simple as flowers, which appear through out history, could somehow derail and disengage our human nature to always find fault with others, wouldn?t it be safe to assume that one day there could be peace. Not just peace in the sense of the word, but literal peace through out every culture. Imagine what a shock it would be to wake up one morning to find that there is no war, not fighting or bickering over petty differences. Imagine happiness and literal peace on Earth.

It is an entertaining thought isn?t it? Now I have to admit that all the worlds? cultures sharing the same wedding favors are a huge leap from world peace, it is still an excellent choice to entertain the possibilities of something as minuscule as that, joining everyone together. Every culture has hundreds of things in which they all share in common. Sometimes people are more alike then what they think or are lead to believe by their elders. Though it may seem like something out of an old science fiction novel, perhaps one day our people will evolve and elevate themselves above the bounds of racial and judgmental differences.

Just imagine what it would be like if everyone seen one another for who they are and not what brand clothing they wore, or how much plastic surgery they underwent. Let?s say that the world represents a wedding chapel, the continents represent the couple to be wed, and all of us, every single person in the world, represented spring and garden wedding favors. Wouldn?t you think that the outcome would be nothing short of being breathtakingly beautiful? Of course it would be. Maybe if that is how the cultures of the world were to see one another then we would all receive a lot more wedding invites. Who knows what else could happen? One thing is for sure, before it happens we should all go out and learn the appropriate way to throw a bridal shower for every person in the world, and learn to incorporate the entire world into our party planning.

The irony about these types of scenes is that we rarely ever see any beach wedding favors or any summer wedding favors. This can sometimes make one conclude that even though these weddings take place on a beach, that doesn?t necessarily mean that it is bright and warm outside. As strange as it may seem, even stranger things have been done before. Could you imagine trying to stand at the altar in the middle of the winter time? Of course not, well at least not outside. You could however picture standing at the altar in the winter, if the altar were indoors.

Even still, thanks to the popularity of nature themed weddings, the beach has become quite the popular wedding chapel these days. Is it really any wonder as to why Hawaii has become one of the most traveled too places in the United States then? Of course not, because it is literally a place for vacationing as well as for romance. This is because of the beaches and their crystal clear waters, not to mention their natural flowers. A beach front wedding on one of their beaches would be almost like Utopia. Then again, it all goes back to what time of the year it is. Even on a really warm day, it can be a bit cool at the beach. This is because not only do you have the wind coming off of the water, but you have vapor mists in the wind as well. This is why it usually is not a good idea to try to have a wedding or a get together on the beach during the cooler seasons of the year.

Sometimes people have beach themed weddings at places other then beaches. That?s right; sometimes people make their own beach setting in their own backyard, or a neighborhood park. As unusual as it may sound, it is true. Some times people who are terrified of water, or people who can not actually afford to travel all the way to a beach because they live on mainland, decide to create their own version of a beach without the water. Sometimes they even have props found at actual beaches such as surf boards, sand buckets and shovels, and of course lots and lots of sand. Then again, sometimes it is not the sand in between the happy couple?s toes which is requested.

Some people decide to have their beach weddings indoors. These generally only have a backdrop or painting of the ocean in which the couple stands before while reciting their vows. Sometimes they even go out and find a compact disk with the sound of the ocean on it to play at their reception. Now I don?t know about you, but personally if I were indoors, and heard a seagull, I would defiantly look up towards the ceiling just to make certain there wasn?t one present.

Food is likely to be one of your biggest costs as it will be on a per head basis. The more people you invite, the more it is going to cost. Food and drink, not counting alcoholic beverages for 100 guests at a low fifty dollars per guest will set you back. Entertainment can be had at a reasonable cost, provided you do not hire someone like K C and the Sunshine band. Some wedding bands that are just starting out will work for less to get the exposure. Wedding bands can cost one thousand to three thousand but this price can be negotiated. The cost will depend on the size of the band and how much experience they have.

You will need a location to hold your wedding and wedding reception and it will need to be themed if you are going that route. You can negotiate with a good wedding theme supplier for just about any type of motif you’d like but remember that the more exotic the theme the more expensive it will be. A western theme will cost less than a Moroccan theme. Your theme will dictate the type of food that you serve so take that into consideration when making this big decision. Themed wedding hall could easily set you back four to eight thousand for 100 guests. The theme will also dictate the type of wedding favors you provide. Unique wedding favors may cost slightly more.

Having Wedding guests running around with recorders and cameras is great but if you want guaranteed results, you will need a professional photographer. One to five thousand depending upon what type of package you decide. If you want pictures of the entire event and a recording plus a shoot of all the members of the wedding party, you will pay much more that a photo shoot of the event and pictures of the main players.

The rings will be an important and necessary part of your budget. The dress and tuxedo can be figured into to this and the estimate could be extreme depending on your taste in rings. Three thousand dollars is a low figure for the rings and another three to outfit the wedding party. Of course, this will depend upon the size of your wedding party. A brides dress can cost from five hundred to three thousand all by itself so that figure has the potential to skyrocket.

These are just the basic needs that you will need to consider when planning your wedding. The prices will vary from state to state and are all in US dollars. Believe me when I say that you will encounter many other costs when you get into it.
